All foreign patients undergoing cancer treatment in Cuba stay at La Pradera International Health Center. La Pradera, founded in 1996, has a pool for patients to use.
At La Pradera, a modest facility, they offer different rehabilitation programs in 10 specialties. These include oncology, heart disease, diabetes, hearing disorders, skin diseases and orthopedics.
La Pradera, like every hospital in Cuba, is state-owned. La Pradera does not perform surgeries, foreign patients are referred to other Cuban hospitals if they need surgical intervention and then admitted to La Pradera for rehabilitation.
The clinic in Havana hosts many of the world's famous names. Diego Armando Maradona, one of the legends of football, is one of the world-famous names who have been treated at La Pradera.
